When we were serving at a church in Woodward Oklahoma , we had a cleanup day for the youth room and outer classrooms. While taking a break I told them a story about Tina’s and my first house. It went like this…
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------When Tina and I first got married I was still in the Air Force. We had rented a home in the local city. It was a nice 3 bedroom home but had carpet in every room. After seeing several spots on the carpet in the kitchen that we had made, not to mention how dingy the carpet looked when we moved in, we decided it was time to rent a Rug Doctor. (That’s a Carpet cleaner for you young folks!)
Now this carpet was dark brown with cream and black spots in it. I guess it was a 70’s thing but it was ugly, to say the least. So, I rented the Doctor and decided to start in the kitchen. After mixing the soap and hot water, I got started. After a few short passes I began to notice something. The carpet was changing before my eyes… I called out for Tina to come and look as this phenomenon was taking place. The first words out of Tina’s mouth were “What did you do!?!?! What did you put in the carpet cleaner??!!??” I told her that I followed the instructions, for once, and this was happening on its own!
As I cleaned the carpet we began to realize that the carpet was no longer brown with cream and black spots, it was RED with Pink and White spots. Well, we had to finish it as it made the rest of the room look…. Um…should I say just a little nasty??? After we finished, it looked as if we had a totally transformed kitchen. [Not to mention that we now felt better about walking bare foot on the floor.]
The landlord came by a week or so later to fix the washer and called to tell me that he was not going to pay for the new carpet in the kitchen. I tried to tell him that I had only cleaned it, but I don’t think he believed me.

The next day at church, one of the ladys that heard this story came to my office to talk about what I had said. She confessed that she had never looked at the words “white as snow” in this light before. When she got home from the cleanup day she said that God had told her to look to Isaiah 1:18. “Come now, and let us reason together. Says the Lord, Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
She told me that after reading this verse she realized that ‘to be truly washed by the Blood of the Lamb’ meant that you are to be transformed in a manner that is a total change in you; that people won’t recognize you anymore. You no longer look dirty and dull but clean and shiny.
How about you? Have you experience the washing of the Blood of the Lamb?“The Greatest Adventure in Life is seen through the Love of Christ”
