The Simple Life:

Thinking back when I was young I can remember all the simple things in life we enjoyed. For me growing up was filled with decisions of, what game I was going to play today or whether I was going to a friend’s house or were they coming to my house. Life in my mind seemed simple.

Every year we would plan our trip to Florida to see my grandparents who lived in Dade City. Along the way we would always stop in Panama City to visit my mom’s friend from high school, but the best part was we got to go to the beach and swim. We would only spend a couple of days there though, as we continued the journey to Dade City.  Once we got there the fun really began. You see, all through the trip we stopped to see the sites; mom had to stop at every nick knack place along the way. There was not a concrete figurine place that was safe from my mom as she had to stop at all of them to make sure there was not anything there that she could not live without. As for my dad he was always accommodating to her and stopping the car at a whim.

But, once we got to granny and grandpa’s house it almost seemed that time stood still. I don’t ever remember there being a television in their house. If there was we never turned it on… The only things I remember the most is the big citrus trees they had and their huge yard. I remember picking oranges and tangerines and eating them straight off the tree. I remember granddad telling stories and grandma cooking as if for an army coming to eat. I used to love to sit and listen to dad, grandpa and my uncles or maybe even a neighbor sitting and talking for hours on their front porch. It was never a dull moment, and by nightfall we were so worn out from playing that we easily fell asleep in the feather beds. Life was simple…

Back in those days life was about hard work, having fun and being with family. I remember listening to my parents talking about the elections. Back then most people were trustworthy and choosing a candidate for president was about who would do the best job. You did not have to worry about the moral fiber of this country because our country was truly a Christian nation. Today we are in trouble because our moral fiber has been torn and too many politicians have misused our trust and took advantage of us and became power hungry. They have exchanged moral standards for corrupt and decisive ways, or whatever they could use to gain power over us.

What is missing is Jesus. Ok, you want political correctness; I will give you political correctness. Jesus is the reason that this country was founded. Jesus was the reason that our fore fathers left
England to find a new home. God inspired them to have faith in Him and complete the journey. In Matthew 11:1-3 John the Baptist sends out his disciples to ask Jesus if he is “The coming One” and Jesus’ response is in verse 4-6 “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see. 5) The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6) And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” There is your political correctness…

The simple life; simply put is living for Jesus and voting for the values that Jesus has given to us through His life on earth and His reign in Heaven now… Vote for God’s values…
