What is Acceptable?

Romans 12: 1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present you bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Over the years it is becoming more and more evident that we as a whole are falling to the whims of this world. We have fallen away from family values and have allowed our immediate world to be infiltrated by what is acceptable by “man”. We have become so busy with trying to satisfy life that we have forgotten what our core values are.

When I was young I remember when we used to have church picnics and going to church was the norm. Today staying home is the norm… Nothing seems to excite us when it comes to church. Remember when you were excited about having Christ come into your life? Not all of us have a “Damascus Road” experience like Paul did, but we do have access to the same Savior.

When Paul was writing to the Romans, he had a passion to bring them and us to the understanding that our service to God is very important. If we choose to block Him out then we run the risk of missing out on the blessings of life or maybe even Heaven. That’s correct… I said missing out on Heaven. There is a difference in being a member in a church and having a relationship with our God and Savior.

Paul knew that to be in the family of God meant that there is something we need to be doing. Seriously, is there this stigma out there that says if you have attended church in your life that makes you a Christian? What about that membership, if I belong to a church that must mean that I am a Christian, right? Well the answer is yes, there is a stigma out there. But beware of that thought process…  The correct answer to those questions is “NO” this does not make you a Christian. If you Love God and you have accepted His Son as your Savior, then you will be able to call yourself a Christian. You will also have a desire to be close to Him and to be a part of the body of Christ. (The Church) If you don’t have any desire to be in church then you need to do some serious evaluation of your relationship with Him…

So what should we be doing? Well as Paul stated above we should present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. It is our reasonable service… What should be acceptable today? To find that answer you will need to look to the Cross. A relationship with Christ is what is acceptable. If you are not sure you have this give me a call, I will be more than glad to talk to you about this…
